Postgraduate
Most of the institutions we are associated with offer two categories of postgraduate study, the taught master and the research degree programme.
Applicant with minimum HND qualification and some years of management experience can also be considered but standard entry requirement is a first degree qualification for taught masters. A minimum of first degree and several years of management experience can also be considered for research degree but a taught master is the standard requirement.
Taught masters degree (normally an MA, MSc, MRes or MEd) is an award granted on the basis of an individually initiated and registered research programme. The programme is built around a supervised thesis on a substantial piece of work, which may need to show evidence of originality and contain material worthy of publication. It also involves an element of research training through generic courses and taught modules and/or courses.
Research degree programmes (MPhil, PhD, DBA, DSc, DLitt, DTech or LLD) are designed to develop deeper understanding through original investigation and to generate new knowledge. A postgraduate research degree involves the systematic high level study of a problem or topic. Candidates work closely with a supervisory team, and present their results in the form of a written thesis. A research degree is time consuming and demanding, persistence and dedication are needed to bring it to a successful completion.
